STOP SMOKING
What smoking does to the body

stop smoking, quit smoking, smoking cessationThere are many other sites on the internet that provide more graphic information and sometimes particularly horrific images on the effects of smoking. Our aim is not to shock - in our experience, smokers will have had enough of other people and organisations trying to stop them smoking with shock tactics. We do not believe that shocking or scaring people into stopping smoking works. Many smokers just ignore the shock/scare tactics (turn to the other channel if an ad appears on TV). Alternatively when faced with scare tactics, smokers can smoke more and try to forget about it, or try to work out why, given the evidence, that they are still smoking.

Here, we just skim the surface for information that we hope you find useful in making the decision to stop smoking.

Many smokers somehow know that if they were diagnosed with any conditions below, then of course they would stop smoking. Why wait for the bad news?

The good news
Despite our extensive research we cannot find any good news in the continuation of smoking.

Surprisingly to some, smoking does not relax the body or the mind, or cure boredom. Smoking does not help you lose weight or concentrate, or in fact, any of the other positive things that smokers can often believe (and as ex-smokers, we used to believe them all).

The good news is simply this: When you stop smoking the positive effects begin to take effect immediately and you will be living longer. As several research studies carried out over many years highlight, non smokers will live an additional 10 years longer than smokers. That is an incredible 3,650 additional days and nights to enjoy a fuller, happier, wealthier, healthier, cleaner, life - where you are in control and not being controlled by cigarettes.

As a non smoker you can concentrate on making further positive changes to your life, and not have to worry about how smoking could be affecting you. Having stopped smoking, many clients report that their lives are transformed in many, many ways.

They have more energy, more money, are fitter, can breathe better, smell so much better, their skin improves, circulation improves, are prouder and have higher self esteem, they spend more time with their children and families (in addition to the time they spent smoking - they no longer wonder how long it is going to be before they have their next cigarette or will be able to get away). The responses are always individual, which is why our successful sessions are tailored to each individual person.

The bad news

  • In a major study it is now proven that a smoker you will die 10 years before a non smoker (3,650 days and nights).
  • Smoking is the greatest single cause of ill health and premature death in the UK.
  • Smokers have a 1 in 2 risk of getting ill and dying early from smoking.
  • Smoking kills 120,000 people each year in the UK, compared to 5,000 in road accidents.
  • 13 people die each hour because of smoking.
  • Over 80% of all lung cancer deaths are caused by smoking.
  • A 20 a day smoker spends £1,700.00 on smoking every year or, allowing for inflation, a massive £100,000. Whilst this is an enormous amount of money, money is very rarely an issue, smokers will always find the money for smoking.

The diseases caused by smoking
There are many serious and fatal diseases caused by smoking. The most common of these are:

  • Coronary heart disease
  • Cancer of the lung
  • Chronic bronchitis
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Emphysema
  • Pneumonia

However, as smoking directly effects the lungs and then from there the blood stream, there is NOT one part of the body that is safe from the negative effects of smoking.

The list of smoking-related diseases includes the following:
Heart and circulation
Heart attacks • Arteriosclerosis (this is the build-up of fatty deposits and loss of elasticity in the artery walls, which can lead to a range of diseases including strokes, peripheral vascular disease and gangrene, and aortic and other aneurysms) • Buerger's disease - which can lead to gangrene and amputations.

Cancers
Lung • Mouth • Nose and thoat • Larynx • Oesophagus • Pancreas • Bladder • Stomach • Leukaemia • Kidney

Respiratory
Chronic bronchitis, Emphysema and other lung diseases • Recurrent infections in the airways • Damage and loss of efficiency in the lungs

Others
Impotence • Peptic ulcers • Adverse effects on fertility

Smoking can also increase the incidence and severity of everyday complaints. Many people do not realise (or they ignore) that coughing, sneezing, shortness of breath, poor circulation, infertility or sexual dysfunction, can be caused by their smoking habit. Smokers either get used to, or ignore the early warning signs of something bad, almost believing they have a special gene that means IT will not happen to them!!!

Stopping Smoking
What actually happens before during and after the appointment?
Before:
Once you make an appointment with us we obtain from you a small fully refundable deposit. We then confirm the appointment in writing to you and also enclose a questionnaire that will enable us to understand your smoking habit and why you want to stop smoking. We encourage you to write down any questions that may occur to you before your appointment so that you will not forget. The timescale from booking an appointment to attending is usually 2-4 weeks dependant on how busy we are. We sometimes have a few appointments that are reserved for emergency referrals from Doctors that we make available to clients who may for one reason or another need an appointment sooner.

You fill out the questionnaire in as much detail as possible and send it back to us a few days before your appointment via our website, mail, email, or fax. We will review this stop smoking questionnaire before your appointment, all you have to do is look forward to your appointment where you will be stopping smoking for life.

During:
We have a consultation with you based on your questionnaire and we will give you full details on hypnosis, how it works and what is going to happen in the session, so there are no surprises for you. We want you to see clearly how easily and permanently this system is going to work for you. You will be able to see what the hundreds of successful clients have said about hypnosis and stopping smoking or losing weight, etc.

We explain why people put on weight when they stop smoking with other systems and products, and why the chances of you putting on weight are thankfully slim.

You will have all your questions answered so that you can be as comfortable as you want to be, with the successful system, the Advanced Hypnotherapist, and everything else that is important to you.

You than get to make a decision that yes you want to stop smoking this way and be fully supported in the process, or that for what ever reason this is not going to be right for you and your deposit is refunded. We shake hands and part company as friends. On the basis you want to become a smoker this way than we just get on with it. You will be walking out of our offices as a non smoker and you will stay that way for life.

After:
You are now a non smoker.

After your stop smoking appointment you are literally free, free to get on with your life as you want free. And if for any reason you have a craving that you feel you cannot handle then all you do is call us on a dedicated number and we will show you how to destroy that craving once and for all. You than get on with your longer life healthier, and in control.

If, in the highly unlikely event we cannot eradicate it once and for all than we ask you to return to our offices for a back up session completely free of charge. It does not matter when you call us three weeks, months or years after your session we deal with it - we stand by our work.

Why not call us now to make an appointment or just to find out more? We are available to take your call 24 hours a day. Make it the very next thing you do and your problem is finally going to be solved.
